International aid agency Oxfam is urging Australians to consider more than their own Dad this Father’s Day, with a Fair Trade gift.

Oxfam’s exotic Fair Trade gifts “give twice”: once to the recipient and once to families around the world who are being supported by the benefits of Fair Trade, such as fair wages and conditions.

“There are great gifts in Oxfam’s shops for Dads of all ages and interests, ranging from the Sporty Dad to the Trendy Dad, the Culinary Dad to the Musical Dad, and the ‘Big Kid’ Dad to the Pampered Dad,” said Oxfam’s Director of Trading, Nadine Silverberg.

“As Oxfam’s quality products are Fair Trade, your gift will not only make Dad’s day special – it will also help families around the world live more secure and independent lives through the benefits of Fair Trade.

“We also have ‘recycled’ gifts, such as a wallet made from discarded tyre tubes in El Salvador or a colourful document bag made from plastic bags recycled off Delhi’s streets, which are helping to create a more sustainable world.

“And if you’re looking to score a hat-trick, our ‘Buy a ball, give a ball’ fairtrade soccer ball scheme provides a similar ball to an orphaned or abandoned child in Pakistan with every purchase, as well as supporting the gift’s producers.

Money raised through Oxfam’s shops helps support Oxfam Australia’s work in fighting poverty and injustice worldwide.
