With just a fortnight until Father’s Day, Oxfam has a range of fair trade gifts for those looking to show dad they truly care.

Oxfam Shop’s General Manager Julia Sumner said buying a Father’s Day gift from Oxfam showed you cared not only about dad – but also about how the gift helps others.

“At the Oxfam Shop we’ve got great gifts for dads of all ages and interests, ranging from the tech-savvy dad to the hip dad, the culinary dad and the pampered dad,” Ms Sumner said.

“And the stories behind each of our fair trade products make them even more special. It says to dad that you also care about how it was made and about the dedicated artisans who put so much passion and skill into each of their hand made products.

“A gift from Oxfam’s fair trade range is guaranteed to make dad feel proud this Father’s Day.”

Among the great products in Oxfam Shop’s Father’s Day collection is the Metropolis leather range of goods. This range, which includes mobile phone covers, tablet covers and satchels, was made by Sapia, the largest fair trade supplier in Colombia.

Sapia helps artisans find work by developing the artisan-based handicraft sector in Colombia, and reaching out to artisan groups in rural areas.

The leather used in the Metropolis range is tanned with 50 per cent fewer chemicals than most commercial leathers and is combined with recycled advertising billboards and various coloured seat belts to give them a bright and quirky look that a trendy dad will love.

If your dad is more of the culinary type, a tajine from the Lombok Pottery Centre in Indonesia helps to improve the standard of living for its artisans and supports work on education, health and sanitation projects.

And if your dad is not into material possessions, why not look at the range of Unwrapped gift cards that are guaranteed to raise a smile? Giving dad ‘A pile of Poo’ card helps communities in Sri Lanka by providing them with cattle manure to help their crops grow.

Or if you can’t get to the footy with dad on Father’s Day, you can still share in his love of the game with an ‘Aussie Rules Footy’ Unwrapped card that supports young indigenous players and helps them to access health education.
