Australian singer-songwriter and 2012 triple j Unearthed High winner, Asta has announced today that she will be embarking on a national tour in collaboration with OXJAM Australia.

The tour, presented by MTV Music and Select Music, will see her play 10 gigs around the country, with $1 donated from every ticket sale to Oxfam Australia. The money raised will help Oxfam fight poverty and injustice around the world.

OXJAM Australia is a month-long festival of gigs to be held in August this year with funds from each gig going to Oxfam. The huge line-up of artists, acts and bands that will take part in the festival will be announced next week. With the likes of MTV Music, MTV Dance, Fbi Radio, noisey & thump already on board this is set to be the country’s longest and largest party against poverty. Asta is one of the first artists to announce their involvement.

“OXJAM is about creating change through music,” Asta said.

“Being on board with OXJAM is one step towards a better, safer, cleaner world. Small steps can make enormous changes.”

OXJAM spokesperson Simone O’Connor said the OXJAM team was thrilled Asta was gigging for good.

“Asta is a huge Australian talent and we are excited to be collaborating with her,” Ms O’Connor said.

“OXJAM is going to be an amazing month and we can’t wait to announce the full line-up of artists and bands who will be joining Oxfam in the fight against poverty.

“The power of music is truly awesome.”

Anyone can get involved in OXJAM by putting on a gig or party of their own. All it takes is a living room or backyard, a group of mates and a couple of bucks donation to show your support for local music and help change lives around the world.

Tickets go on sale for Asta’s tour from 9:00am on Friday 26 June and you can see the full line-up of OXJAM events announced next week or register your own OXJAM gig at www.oxjam.org.au.
