Oxfam shops open in Bondi and Sydney

Shoppers will be able to buy unique products and make a difference to the lives of thousands of artisans and farmers around the world with the opening of two new Oxfam shops in Bondi and Sydney this month.

Oxfam welcomes $4.5 million Fairtrade commitment from Australian Government

International aid agency Oxfam has welcomed the Australian Government’s announcement of $4.5 million to boost Fairtrade between small community producers in the Pacific and in Indonesia with regional and international markets.

Oxfam Australia Trading General Manager Julia Sumner said the investment highlighted the importance that trade plays in helping to lift people out of poverty.

Kylie Kwong range hits the shops

The beautiful fair trade tableware range designed by celebrity chef Kylie Kwong exclusively for Oxfam Australia has gone on sale around Australia.

To mark its release and to give Kylie fans a behind-the scenes look at how the range was developed, Oxfam has released a short video of Kylie’s visit to the workshop where her first ever range is being crafted. The video, which can be viewed on the Oxfam website, also introduces some of the people who are creating the fair trade range.

World Fair Trade Day

Tomorrow marks World Fair Trade Day, which each year sees people from around the world join together to campaign for the rights of small producers, farmers and artisans.

Oxfam Australia today welcomed the launch of Fair Traders of Australia, a new accreditation body for Australian businesses which have fair trade at the core of what they do.
